PA Housing was proud to welcome over 50 our of tenants to their new homes in Trinity Walk, a brand new, state-of-the-art apartment complex in the heart of Woolwich.
In partnership with Lovell Homes and the Royal Borough of Greenwich, the first phase of what will be a £400 million regeneration scheme was officially unveiled yesterday. More than 50 of PA's households were handed their keys in the middle of last week, giving them the weekend to settle in before our grand ribbon cutting.
Four pupils from the nearby St. Peter's Primary School also helped with the grand opening, as they chose the name of the new block: Percy Eagles Building. Percy Alan Frederick Eagles, a former resident of the borough, was a Third Engineer who died in the First World War; the area has a long and proud connection to its military history. Major John Eldridge from the Royal Artillery Barracks was also in attendance to receive artwork created by the children and to assist with the opening.
Councillor Denise Hyland said: “We all know how incredibly difficult it has become for ordinary people to access decent housing in London. In Royal Greenwich we believe the best way we can address this crisis is through long term, ambitious partnership working, involving the council, developers and housing associations. That is why I am so delighted to see the official handover of the keys to the affordable apartments from Lovell Homes to our other partner, PA Housing."
With the arrival of the brand new, high speed rail service later this year, the commute into central London will take just 20 minutes on a direct train from Woolwich, making it an enviable place to live for commuters and would-be city dwellers.
Our Chief Operating Officer, Matt Cooney, said: “We are very proud of what has been achieved through our partnership with Lovell Homes and the Royal Borough of Greenwich. These fantastic new homes provide another opportunity for people living or working locally to live in new homes at an accessible price, made possible through the availability of affordable rent and the shared ownership scheme."
