We love a strong female lead

2018 - March, Latest news

Here at PA Housing, we’re incredibly proud to champion women in the workplace, and as a result, we’ve got a strong female presence in our senior positions. To celebrate International Women's Day 2018, we’re putting the spotlight on some of our female managers and asking them why they’re so proud to be in an organisation like PA.

Marion Hall – Executive Director of Governance

Marion Hall is our Company Secretary and Director of Governance.  With a lifetime’s experience in the housing sector, including a number of years as a Regional Director at the Housing Corporation, she was ideally suited to take executive responsibility for PA Housing’s Governance, HR and Communications.  She has worked with the company since 2011, moving from the post of managing director and another housing association. Marion has a BA (Hons) degree and a Diploma in Housing Studies.

I’m doing a job I love and my aim is to help to keep the organisation safe and suitably resourced as it grows, as well as helping to promote our activities.”

Robbyne Thompson – Customer Services Manager

Robbyne has worked for PA Housing since May 2014. She began as Housing Coordinator for the Customer Services Department, moving to Complaints and Operational Support Manager in March 2015, and finally moving in to her current role as Customer Services Manager in August 2017.

I’m passionate about our people, bringing new and exciting technology to the business, and building a forward thinking and tech-smart environment for the good of our customers and colleagues.  PA Housing has taught me a huge amount about Housing and about running a Customer Services Department, but mainly gave me a love of technology, all enabling me to be the future leader that I would like to be.”

Sharon Butler – Tenancy Solutions Manager

Tenancy Solutions Team Manager Sharon Butler has been with PA Housing since 2003. She began as a Housing Assistant on a 6-month contract and never dreamed she would still be here 15 years later.  She has always worked in the front line and her patch in Walton-on-Thames used to have extremely high levels of antisocial behaviour, but partnership working and hard work has earned her commendation for achieving the lowest crime rate in Elmbridge.

I have found my niche. I love managing ASB, my team and I also support the most vulnerable of our customers, which gives me great job satisfaction.”

Dawn Cooke – Independent Living Team Manager

Dawn Cooke is one of PA Housing’s longest serving staff members. Starting out as a Support Worker 30 years ago but now Independent Living Team Manager, Dawn heads up one of the biggest teams in the company. Dawn started out working in Leicester’s first purpose built residential care home for people with a learning disability and worked with the Care Quality Commission to create a service to support these people to live in their own homes.

I am immensely proud of all that I have achieved working in housing.  I know that the pioneering work we did in the early years certainly made a difference to so many people.”

Emma Macnish – Head of HR & Communications

Emma Macnish began her career with PA Housing in 2003 as a Human Resources Adviser.  Since then she has worked her way up through roles such as HR Service Delivery Manager, and Head of HR to take on her current role in 2015. Throughout that time she has emphasised the importance of helping staff with their professional development.

Choosing a career in HR naturally means an interest in people and their professional development. Working at PA Housing has really allowed me to grow that interest and lead a team of like-minded individuals. I’m incredibly proud of the work that we do and the way in which we support our colleagues.”

Maria Frawley – Head of Property Services

Maria joined PA Housing in 2004 as a Senior Housing Officer. She became Partnerships Manager (Customer Services) in 2010. As the Head of Property Services Maria is responsible for leading the responsive repairs services to PA customers in the South East and Surrey, as well as overseeing the delivery of the gas servicing, breakdown, cleaning and grounds maintenance services for the area. Maria works closely with PA Housing contractors and customers to build strong relationships, which in turn provide excellent services to customers.

I love the immense pride and satisfaction that I get from working in housing. We work with some of the most disadvantaged people in society who have a number of challenges to overcome, and it’s great to see the difference a safe, secure home can make to their lives.”

Happy International Women’s Day!
