The true spirit of inclusion was captured at Albany House in Nottingham when a 102-year-old customer tried curry for the first time.
To celebrate National Inclusion Week head cook at the Albany café Anjan Rakhit chose a theme for each day and arranged several ways to experience cultures from around the world. He made a special tasty dish from a different country every day and decorated the room in keeping with his theme.
Residents also learned facts about the countries, including how to say ‘hello’ in each of the national languages. The themes included China, India, USA, Jamaica and Italy.
The centenarian customer who tried a curry for the first time on India day said: “I wouldn't have got to the age I have without trying something new".
Customers said they really enjoyed the event and all the staff loved putting everything together. Albany House is an independent living extra care scheme with 72 flats for residents over 55.
