PA Housing names new Walton-on-Thames affordable housing scheme

2023 - April, Our news

Demolition of a former tower block in Walton-on-Thames is complete and its replacement has a new name, having been subject to a public vote.

Laurelwood Place replaces the now flattened Thamesview House, with a new contemporary 97 home apartment block delivered by PA Housing and construction partners Hill Partnerships Ltd.

The scheme forms part of the housing association’s ambitious plans to build 6,000 high-quality, affordable homes nationwide over the next 10 years, regenerating neighbourhoods and building attractive new homes.

PA Housing sourced a shortlist of names for residents and other stakeholder involved in the project to vote upon, with all the options deriving from the surrounding area’s history. Laurelwood’s relevance comes from the name of a house on Franklyn Road in the 1950’s. The new block name has now been approved by Elmbridge Council.

We’re proud to bring a wholly affordable scheme to Walton-on-Thames with 45 homes available for social rent and 52 for shared ownership. The skyline in Elmbridge looks significantly different following the demolition of Thamesview House and we hope the incoming Laurelwood Place is something residents can look upon and be proud to call home.

Adil Rashid, Executive Director of Development & Assets at PA Housing,

Thamesview House was built in 1972 and accommodated 64 homes in a nine-storey residential block. PA Housing started on site in September 2022 with works expected to last two years.
